to Living Are You Stressed ? STRESS? How to deal with it WHAT IS STRESS ? Any power, force
or experience that touches our lives physically, mentally, or spiritually,
against which we must react in
order to maintain balance in our lives.
STRESSORS
Stressors are those forces that produce stress, which may originate either externally in the environment around us, or internally as our various internal functions are disturbed by such things as pain, illness, thoughts and emotions. We live in a stress filled world. Perhaps there has been no other time in history. THE
PHYSIOLOGY OF STRESS
Homeostasis
is a state of equilibrium of your body’s internal environment. Factors
that can bring an imbalance in the internal environment are known as
stressors. Stressors may be physical or psychological. Some examples
are grief, worry, guilt, anger, anxiety, depression and fear. These
emotions produce the following chemical changes in our bodies:
1. Increased epinephrine (adrenaline) secretion. 2.
Increased blood glucose level. 3.
Increased blood glycerol levels. 4.
Increased blood fatty acid levels. These produce the following physical changes in our bodies: 1. Increased heart rate. 2. Increased blood flow to the skeletal muscles. 3. Increased breathing rate. These
reactions are caused by hormones which are released into the blood stream.
A hormone is a special chemical substance which is secreted by an
endocrine gland.
These glands are
part of the autonomic nervous system. It is comprised of the sympathetic
and the parasympathetic nervous systems. The sympathetic nervous system is
responsible for the “FIGHT-OR-FLIGHT”
response. It prepares your body to face an “emergency”. The
parasympathetic nervous system slows your body back down to normal.
HOW
STRESS AFFECTS YOUR HEALTH 1.
Muscular tension:
This tension can
cause a headache, which is due to a build up of blood in the brain causing
pressure by the expansion of blood vessels in the cranium.
2.
Fatigue: prolonged muscular
tension consumes tremendous amounts of energy, leaving the body weak and
tired. 3.
Impaired immune system response:
Fatigue and tension greatly reduce the body’s ability to
fight infection, leaving one more prone to illness.
4.
Poor circulation:
Constriction of arteries slows the blood flow, limiting the
distribution of vital nutrients and oxygen. Cellular wastes also build up
with decreased circulation.
5. Poor digestion: When improper digestion occurs, due to tension and upset, foods are not adequately broken down and the vitamins and other nutrients necessary for health and vitality can’t be absorbed and used by the body. 6. Mental and emotional unrest. Chronic fatigue can occur as a result. Hans
Selye describes three sequences in our reaction to stressors:
1.
The alarm reaction. 2.
The resistance stage. 3.
The exhaustion stage The alarm
reaction occurs when we first confront a threatening situation. We
instinctively prepare for “fight or flight.”
We mobilize our resources by a signal from the hypothalamus, master
gland of the body, causing the gland to produce ACTH, a hormone that
stimulates production of epinephrine and norepinephrine. These hormones,
produced primarily in the adrenals, are called catecholamines, and they
speed nerve transmission and mobilize our reserves. Additional hormones
such as prolactin, growth hormone, and thyroid hormone are also produced
during this stage. Catecholamines make our voluntary muscles bulge and get
ready
In the second phase of distress these emergency physiological
Another stress-related syndrome often mimics exhaustion. It is called
over-adaptation. In contrast to burnout, it conserves rather than exhausts
energy stores. Kaiser coined this word. Like burnout, it is characterized
by boredom, cynicism, lack of appreciation, self -doubt, depression,
disgust, and the “can’t do” attitude. The treatment for
over-adaptation involves reconstructing the life and establishing new
goals-perhaps a change of vocation. Over-adaptation is a classic example
of a need for redesigning one’s life-space.
STRESS RELATED DISEASES Although
any illness can be the source of stress for those who are ill, stress and
distress may be significant factors in the cause of disease. Thousands of
years ago Galen, a Greek physician, noticed that women with breast cancer
who had lost a husband or other loved ones, died much sooner than other
cancer victims who did not experience such a loss.
It is well known
that there are definite links between cancer and stress. There have been
countless cases of men and women who through grief of losing a loved one
have taken on various cancers themselves and died of a stroke or a heart
attack. Distress creates emotional responses in the brain, disturbing the
chemical balance of neurotransmitters. As a result, our hormones (possible
cancer promoters) are increased, and our immune system depressed.
Stress is an
important cause of coronary heart disease, hypertension, and stroke–all
together the first cause of death in the Western world. Stress is also an
important causal factor to such autoimmune diseases as rheumatoid
arthritis, Lupus erythematosis, and myasthenia gravis. Distress is even a
factor in such violent deaths as accidents, murder, and suicide. Newstart
179-181.
A
well known health educator stated that “9/10 of the diseases form which
men suffer have their foundation in the mind (CH 324). Mental and
emotional health can ruin your health more so than even bad food or air.
There is an intricate relationship between the mental and the physical,
which can’t be denied. It is believed that the brain has more
connections in it than all the computer systems in the world. The capacity
for the brain to store information is incredible, and it has been said
that the brain could store one new piece of information every second for
the next 3 million years. Each of the 12,000,000,000 brain cells can hold
86,000 000 bits of information each day. As there is no possible to
process this information on a conscious level it goes into the
subconscious that to be processed and sorted out, with only the most
important information being brought to our attention at any one time. This
amazing piece of engineering design can’t be matched for its complexity,
and since it is directly related to all parts of the body then common
sense warrants us to understand that every system, organ, gland, and even
every cell are going to be affected by this masterpiece of creation.
Every thought that you and I think is actually an electrical impulse that
is generated in our brain. These electrical impulses are relayed through
our bodies by the aid of neurons, these are likened to telephone wires
that transmit impulses by electric impulses. Each thought that we think
has an effect on the body whether we know it or not. Neurons are connected
to glands which are responsible for chemicals such as hormones to be
secreted into your blood stream. What is happening is electrical impulses
are converted into chemical impulses which give you good and bad feelings.
When you feel bad it is often
the case that you have thought bad, as thoughts come before the feelings,
and thoughts and feelings make up your moral character. King Solomon, who
was considered the wisest man in all the world wrote,
“For as a man thinketh in his heart so is he.”
Proverb 23:7. When we are under stress it is often because we feel
insecurity to control a situation, or environment which we are in. Worry
plagues our minds and anxiety and fear looms its ugly head. Emotions such
as hate, envy, scorn, jealousy, and fear actually create poisons, not
psychological poisons, but powerful toxic substances which poison the life
stream, the blood, and under their influence the body weakens and all the
life processes are disturbed. A person who lives under fear, or under the
shadow of any depressing emotion, seems to shrivel up. He grows old
prematurely. Worry kills a hundred where work kills one.
WHAT CAN I DO ABOUT STRESS? Although
we can’t eliminate all stress from our lives, we can learn how to cope
with it in a positive way that will not adversely affect our health. We
often look to others for support or sympathy when we are under stress to
help us to overcome our stress. The best help to look for is someone who
has gone through the same experience that you have, and who has been
successful in going through it. There has been no other person that has
been placed under so much stress as our loving Creator, He knows that our
worry, anxiety, fear and guilt can all be unloaded upon Him and He will
deal with it himself and give us peace. Why not put Him to the test and
see if you find that peace that will ease your cares and give you perfect
rest in your stress. The Bible says “Trust in the Lord with all thine
heart and lean not unto thine own understanding….It shall be health to
thy navel and marrow to thy bones.”
Proverbs 3:5,8. Jesus said “Come unto me all ye that labor and
are heavy laden and I will give you rest,
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me, for I am meek and lowly in
heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”
Matthew 11:28.
A
period of stress longer than 1 month makes a person 2.5 times more
susceptible to illness! AMA
states that STRESS is a primary factor in at least 75% of all treated
illness! IMAGINE
THE EFFECT OF THIS HAPPENING DAY AFTER DAY! Q
- WHAT IS THE SOLUTION TO STRESS? Q
- WHERE CAN WE FIND REST in STRESS? Matthew. 11:28-30 YOKE - The
yoke that Jesus invites us to take is a symbol of 2 things. 1.
The yoke used so that 2 beasts can share
the load. 2. The yoke forces the 2 beasts to co-operate! There was always one beast which led, made the decisions etc. Without the submission of the 2nd partner in the cooperative, mayhem would result. Stress
is SELF-TRUST
Thinking
we can sort things out in our own strength give us stress! If
we choose to team up with God, we need to realise that we DONT know the
answers to our problems, and that we CANT sort them out ourselves. But
that He DOES know the answers, and that He CAN sort them out.
It
would seem a sensible business
practice to delegate the solving of our problems to an ALL-KNOWING and
ALL-POWERFUL Partner!
Q
- Do you know any advisors that have these characteristics? That knows
everything? Which businessman or politician wouldn't give anything for an
advisor that would help him make the perfect decision every time?
That is the sort of help God is offering us if we team up with Him! BUT!!
There always seems to be a BUT! Let me illustrate the BUT that most of us
always come up with.
You
have tried to find your way out for a long time and are exhausted, thirsty
and despairing you will ever get out. Then you meet a man trimming the
hedge. He immediately recognises your condition and plight, and offers to
show you the way to the exit, assuring you that he has been there many
times, and that he knew from the beginning of the maze to the end.
Remember that you have tried futily yourself to get out, choosing to go down this way, then that way, but finally admitting that your choices of path have only got you more lost and confused. To
give your will up to God is the same as allowing the gardener to show you
the way out of the maze! It means to give up the struggle to save yourself
to Someone who has been there before and knows the answers to your
problem. It means give up your power of choice, which has got you lost and
in trouble, to Someone who will make the right decision, EVERY time! It
means to allow Someone who knows exactly what is best for you, and who
knows exactly will make you truly happy, to make your decisions for you.
WHAT
HAS THIS GOT TO DO WITH YOUR HEALTH? Implementing every one of these health principles successfully will depend on the RIGHT ACTION OF THE WILL. Our will-power is our power of choice. Making the right decision. Q
- What then does “THE RIGHT ACTION OF THE WILL” mean?
It means to DECIDE BY PRINCIPLE, not by what we feel like doing. Ultimately
it means to choose to do things the way God would have us do them!
The REWARDS of this GIVING UP OF OUR WILL are great! The Lord has promised to give us POWER every day to overcome the hassles of life and rise above them. He has promised HAPPINESS that cannot be bought, sold, stolen, or manufactured. He has promised PEACE. Peace is the rarest commodity in the world today, and He is the only Source of true and lasting peace. He has promised LIFE. The rest that He offers to those that labour and are heavy laden is for us now! But it is also for in the future. He offers what man has been seeking to find for himself for ages - fountain of youth that will keep us young for ever. He offers eternal life to those that are willing to give Him all of their burdens, all of the time. Friends, don’t worry about the future. Don’t worry about tomorrow. Don’t dwell on the past. Give these things up to Him. Yoke
up to Him, share your burdens, seek His advice.
“Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding... It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.” Pro.3.5,6
WHAT
IS DISEASE?
HOW
CAN WE HAVE NATURAL IMMUNITY? “Disease is an effort of the Nature to free the body system of conditions that result from the violation of the laws of health.” In
the case of sickness.
1. The cause should be ascertained. 2. The unhealthful conditions should be changed. 3. Wrong habits corrected. 4. The nature is to be assisted in her effort to expel impurities and to re-establish right conditions in the system (Ministry of Healing p.127) DISEASE-
Medical
dictionary definition - any deviation from or interruption to the normal
What
is Health?
Health
is state of not only physical and mental vigor and vitality to the
whole system of being; but a well being that can felt and seen. To
understand what is Health, we need to deal with not just the physical
disease that may manifest itself, but also the mental and the spiritual
too. We know that if we are under serious mental trauma it can make us
physically sick. Likewise too, we can suffer from disease if we have not
the peace of mind, this can affect the whole of our body system.
HOMEOSTASIS
- Indicates
a dynamic state of equilibrium, or balance, in
which internal conditions change or very, but always within relatively
narrow ranges e.g.: Our
body pH can only very in a range of only 2 to 4 points other wise death
may result.
What
is disease? Is
an effort of nature to free the body system of conditions that result from
the violation of the laws of health?
So what is health? the state of wellness and vigor, mind body and spirit.
WHAT IS NATURAL IMMUNITY ? Dr. Alex Carrel for years with the Rockfeller Institute, in His book “ Man the Unknown,” says there are two kinds of immunity - one natural and the other artificial; that to date the trend of medical science has been toward the artificial; that medicine has been following the easiest road of building artificial health through the use of pharmaceutical products, chemicals, drugs, antitoxic sera, hospital techniques, etc. He says further that we ought to learn the secret of natural immunity to disease that the future advance of medicine will not come through better hospitals, or more and better Pharmaceutical products, but through having sound nervous systems, immunity to infections, and through the prevention of degenerative diseases. For instance, instead of giving a man a substitute for the secretion of some gland, we ought to find out how to make our own glands secrete their proper juices. Perhaps another way to say it is to build up natural immunity rather than try to cure disease. THE BODY’S IMMUNE DEFENSES 1.
The Skin outside the body and the mucous membrane inside, will not allow
germs to enter the body itself if the cells of the skin and membrane are
2.
The salvia contains substances, which inhibit the growth of germs, if the
system is healthy.
3.
The hydrochloric acid in the gastric juice is a strong disinfectant’
when in full health. 4. Bacteria usually thrive in an acid environment, while an alkaline environment inhibits their growth. An alkaline condition in our body tissues and blood aids in fighting foreign bacteria. 5.
The blood contains substances, which hinder the growth of germs., it also
contains white corpuscles (white blood cells), which devour foreign
invaders.
6. Certain minerals assist in combating germs; the mineral calcium can wall off tuberculosis germs in the lungs. So what is natural immunity? Through the right nutrition (eating right) and following NEWSTART to Living Program we can have natural immunity.
PROPER
NUTRITION Proper nutrition, eating correctly that we may prevent sickness disease is not a myth or mystery, it can be obtained by all, that literally thousands for centuries have followed. If we follow the ancient plan “NEWSTART”, to health and restoration we will be restored to the vitality we once new when we were younger. Let’s look at some wisdom from the Ancient Scriptures. “Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? And your labor for that which satisfied not? Hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, let your soul delight itself in fatness,” Everything in the universe is governed by we call “ natural law.” If we know the law and how to apply it, there invariably follow results that are so certain as to be amazing. because of there positiveness, in correcting harmful habits. We can predict with pinpoint accuracy the results of certain conditions. A good example of this is the inexorable law of gravity. Should
a person release an object from their hand into the air, you would not
turn your gaze upward to see it take off into outer space, would you?
Because of your acquaintance with the demands of gravity, your eyes would
follow the objects decent to the ground. So also when mankind conforms to
“NEWSTART” for nutrition, abundant health and happiness will flow from
the almighty. Like the survival of the fittest, disease is overcome by
wellness and vigor. The results are as authentic as the force of gravity.
On the contrary, when a harmful lifestyle results in disease, the fate of the victim is imagined to be the result of chance. Yet physicians admit that over 90% of all diseases are the result of an improper Lifestyle. Many don’t know that dEATh is mainly what you choose to EAT!! This point was made around the turn of the century by a little old lady with a third grade education, her name was Mrs.Ellen.G. White. She wrote, “The disease and suffering that is everywhere prevail largely due to popular errors in regard to diet. Ministry of Healing page 295. Q:
So how do we prevent sickness and disease? By following
DAILY EXERCISE A ‘Newstart” to our life includes daily exercise, and we can’t have good health without it. It is important that we not only physical but in conjunction we consider, our mental and spiritual faculties too. Each of these areas influence one another to various degrees, and our loving Creator wants us to develop these areas to their fullest potential. Let’s look at some vital questions concerning exercise. (1)
How does exercise affect our health?
(2)
What diseases are caused by inactivity, lack of exercise. 3)
What are the best form
of exercise. BENEFITS OF DAILY EXERCISE: (1)It makes our heart more efficient. The heart muscle is strengthened, and cardiac output is increased. 2) It normalizes blood pressure. If the pressure is up, exercise brings it down, both systolic and diastolic pressures. If the pressure is low, exercise will generally bring it up to normal. (3)
It increases the oxygen carrying capacity of the blood and allows a
greater volume of blood to reach all parts of the body.
(4) It lowers the pulse rate. This is very important as this allows the heart to not have to work as hard. (5) It promotes better blood circulation. The flow of blood is your river of life. Blood carries Oxygen, nutrients, and other essentials to every part of your body. (6)
Exercise helps rid the body of excess body wastes of metabolism and
carries them to kidneys, lungs and skin, where e they are eliminated. It
helps overcome constipation too.
(7) It helps with digestion and promotes intestinal activity, reducing gas and constipation. (8) It strengthens the muscles, bones and ligaments. Exercise greatly reduces the incidence of mineral lose thus aiding in reducing the effects of osteoporosis. (9) It brings an over all balance to all the systems of our bodies, the endocrine system, your pituitary, pancreas, the adrenals, and sex glands become more efficient “There is an old saying if you don’t use it you lose it.” This is certainly the case when it comes to the muscles. Some people who have had
their limbs immobilized for long periods of time have found that they are
unable to use them as they did before because they have atrophied. Medical
researchers of Washington University studied exercising and non-
exercising women between 55 - 70. In nine months the non-exercising women
lost an average of 1 to 5 % of their mineral content. After seventeen
months of work outs the exercising women had increased their mineral
content an average of 6.2 %, as significant gain.
WHAT’S
THE BEST FORM OF EXERCISE? One
of the best form of exercise that doesn't stress the body as much is:
walking. It’s the simplest, most controlled and stressless exercise that
you can do. Walking brings all the organs into use and is one of the best
remedies for disease known to man. Walking stimulates thought by
increasing the oxygen supply. It elevates one’s spirit through the
natural mood elevating chemicals called endorphins. Walking acts like a
tranquillizer without a pill.
So what’s the best type of exercise that suits most people? Walking and stretching exercises are lowest impact for most people.
LOTS OF WATER “In health or in sickness,
pure water is Heavens blessings. Its proper use promotes health. It is the
beverage, which GOD provided to quench the thirst of animals and man.
Drunk, freely, it helps to supply the necessities of the system, and
assists nature to resist disease. Ministry of Healing, page 247.
THE BENEFITS OF WATER Water
has untold benefits in the human body, it increases heat production and
elimination; it removes impurities out of the system. Water is also the
medium for gaseous exchanges and increases blood formation and Metabolite,
as well as being a lubricant. Water acts as a cleanser and for this reason
an adequate supply each day needs to be taken to function properly. When
we wake up in the morning to go and urinate, your urine will be darker
than normal, this is due to reduced water intake at night, which causes
dehydration in the body.
Most people don’t drink
enough water, and tend to drink only when they are thirsty, but little do
they know that they need more than what just satisfies the thirst. Imagine
taking a shower and turning on the tap only to find a sticky green slime
come out. Upon ringing up the water board to make your complaint you are
informed that there has been a restriction in the water supply and that
all that is left is green sludge that you are using. You are told you have
to do the best with what you have. How disgusted you would be. After all
you pay your rates. This scenario seems unlikely to happen, but this is
what’s happening to most of us at cellular level every day. No, not a
sticky green sludge, but red sticky dehydrated blood cells dwelling in
toxic waste, due to lack of pure water.
There are no quick fixes that
can compensate for the violation of the natural health laws; we soon reap
what we sow. It has been found that water intake can increase physical
endurance and ability to work as much as 80%. when you don’t drink
enough pure water your blood thickens and flows with greater difficulty.
This can cause trouble not only in your bodies tissues and organs, but
also to your heart that must pump the sluggish blood.
With the decrease in blood circulation, this in turn decreases the oxygen supply to the brain, impairing concentration and creating untold side effects. Without water we couldn't blink or swallow (as water lubricates all these things). Without water we couldn't perspire, or even exhale air. WHAT'S THE BEST TYPE OF WATER? The
best type of water is alkaline water. Alkaline water is found in nature,
clean coming up out of the earth or a mountain stream. Sadly most all
water needs to be filtered today to remove the high acid contents and
other containments.
Q: How much water should we drink? An average 1 1/2 to 2 litres a day for and average person, or 8 to 10, 250ml glasses. What's the best water to drink? Pure water.
SUNSHINE Fascinating facts about sunshine: The sun is an immense object, approximately 1.4 million kilometers in diameter, if you were to scoop out, like a giant watermelon you could fit the earth about 1.3 million times. It radiates more heat in one second than man has produced in all history! Has a surface temperature of around 6000 degrees centigrade while it is believed to have a core temperature of 15 million degrees centigrade. Each square inch of the sun’s surface is producing about 1.5 million candlelight power per second, or equivalent to 70,000 horsepower per second, that’s powerful. the sun has placed in just the right position for us to survive. If it were to 10 million kilometers either way different, the earth would be in serious trouble, and would uninhabitable. It takes light from the sun only eight minutes to reach the earth, and what’s even more amazing than all these statistics is what it doe's for you and me in each moment of our lives. Let’s shed some light on the subject. The Positive Benefits of Sunlight in the Body It would take many volumes of books to exhaust the benefits of sunlight for the human body, but we will look at just some of the many wonderful things that it does to contribute towards our health. Sunlight is essential to the well being of our bodies. Without it disease is inevitable, but it is something that is given little thought in the recovery of disease. Sunshine is valuable in forming strong bones. It has been said that sunshine has the same effect upon the body as does exercise. They both decrease the RESTING HEART RATE, the RESPIRATORY RATE, BLOOD SUGAR, and the amount of LACTIC ACID in the blood following exercise. Right amount of sunshine can both increase ENERGY, STRENGTH, ENDURANCE, and TOLERANCE to STRESS, and help absorb correct levels of OXYGEN. Sunlight also stimulates the THYROID GLAND to increase HORMONE PRODUCTION, which increases the body’s BASIC METABOLIC RATE, which in turn burns up the calories. The Devine Philosophy and Science of Health and Healing, page 101. Sunlight
is a natural anti-biotic being one of the most powerful and effective
means of killing germs and bacteria (Newstart page.34). Sunlight is a
purifier and it even gives the air an electric
charge as it passes through the atmosphere. People with higher than
normal blood pressure, would be
greatly benefited by a 5 to 10 minutes sunbathing a day. SUNLIGHT AND
VITAMIN D.
Vitamin D is formed in skin naturally by exposure to the sun. Vitamin D, in the body helps absorb calcium for your bones as well as your intestinal track and lower risks of diseases such as Multiple sclerosis, colon cancer, and other diseases. We should be temperate and not over expose ourselves to the sun, 5 to 10 minutes a day is enough, Before 10am and after 2pm is the best time. Q: WHY IS SUNLIGHT GOOD FOR US? It can help our bodies in so many ways as mentioned it can Relax us, rest our heart rate, help normalize our blood sugar, revitalize us and it can reduce stress; not to name a few.
TEMPERATE
always The
best place to start explaining the word temperance is from the ancient
scriptures for it is a very old word. What the word of GOD says by the
apostle Paul under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, “The fruit of
Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness faith,
meekness, temperance
Keep
in mind the Honey principle from the Ancient scriptures, where in
there is great wisdom. Based on this principle, we should not eat
substances that are not good for us. That means to eliminate in our
lives things that can cause ill health or destroy our vital forces such
as, alcoholic beverages, Tobacco in all it’s forms, drugs which poison
all systems, cola drinks, all non-herbal teas, to mention a few. Following
these temperate principles of eating and drinking, we can in most cases
ward off all kinds sickness that cripple a large amount of society today.
Not only in eating and drinking, but also in all areas of our lives,
trusting in GOD, and following HIS Honey Principle, we have a sure
guideline, a temperance guideline that simply means.....
Not
the Nike principal
JUST DO IT
BUT If
it’s good, do it in moderation
- If it’s bad leave
it alone.... Q: So what is temperance? Living by right principles, abstaining from the bad, that causes ill health.
OPEN
AIR Air - Without air we could not live any longer than three or four minutes, therefore air is vital to the function and nourishment of our body. Not only is it important to get adequate air but just as important to get the right type of air. We live in an artificial world, and even the air we breathe in many places has become artificial due to the use of modern conveniences of air conditioning. Let’s look at some important factors about air. (1)
What does in our bodies
(2)
The side effects due to a lack of good air. (3) How can we be benefited by the prudent use of this God given asset? But what is Air: Definition: It’s a mixture of invisible odorless, tasteless gases that surround the earth. What does air consist of? In approximant measures, it’s 21% oxygen, 78% nitrogen, 1 % argon, helium, carbon dioxide and other miscellaneous gases. What
does air do in our bodies: In order to have good health, we must have
good blood. Perfect blood = Perfect circulation. God’s word tells us
that life is in the blood. In order to have good blood we must learn to
breath properly’ full deep inspirations of pure air which fill the lungs
with oxygen and thus purify the blood. if the blood receives an
insufficient supply of oxygen, the blood moves sluggishly. The waste in
your body, which should be thrown off by proper breathing, remains in the
body. Impurities therefore build up in your body in your body and weaken
the immune system, reducing the ability to fight off disease.
BENEFITS
OF AIR: (1)
Breathing properly will help purify the blood
(2)
Contributes to the production of heat and energy (3) Conveys electrical energy with which to vitalize every organ in the body (4)Helps
induce sleep (5) Helps soothe strained nerves. (6) Deep breathing brings peace of mind (7)Destroys
inactive bacteria, viruses and other substances
(8) Invigorates the whole being. (9) Accelerates healing. SIDE EFFECTS DUE TO LACK OF GOOD AIR We
begin our life with the breath and life is over when we take our last
breath. But how we breathe in between our first and last breath makes a
lot difference to the quality of life and our zest for living. In adequate
breathing reduces vitality and causes metabolic fires burn low. Shallow
and restricted breathing leads to many complications such as the
following.
(1) Senility (2) Fatigue (3) Exhaustion (4) Depression (5) Low energy levels (6) Creates bad emotion These are just a few of the many side effects from a poor supply of good oxygen. Oxygen has been used to improve mental function in cases such as senility. When senile patients were placed in a sealed room where the oxygen, is slightly increased, decided improvement of mental function was noticed. Is
there a right way to breath, to get the correct oxygen uptake? Breathing
through our noses in correct aspirations, at all times is the right way.
For our noses are not only a filter but a regulator as well.
REST: Rest is something that rarely is given much thought until the body is so run down that literally is forced to rest by coming down with sickness. This immobilizes the body so it can recuperate its vital forces once again. To labor hard without sufficient rest is sure indication that disease will be forth -coming, let alone the risk of injury. According to William Dementia, a professor of behavioral sciences at Stanford University School of Medicine, America “ Natural Sleep Debt” saps as much as billion dollars from the economy each year in sleep-related accidents alone. “Some make themselves sick by hard work.” For these, rest, freedom from care, and the correct diet, are essential to restoration of Health. To those who are brain weary and nervous because of continual labor and close confinement, a visit to the countryside relaxes the senses. The
Physiological Benefits of Rest and Sleep
Rest strengthens labor and labor sweetens rest. Activity exhausts the resources of the body faster than they are restored and this makes periods of rest and relaxation necessary to make it possible for the body to catch up and restore it’s normal conditions. Dr. Clark stated the following, “Everything in the animal kingdom requires, among other fundamentals, that their exercise and rest following each other in regular order; and everything that disturbs this balance affects their health and efficiency.” For example the brain cell, after a day’s work, becomes exhausted; but after a good night’s sleep, it is refreshed and ready to resume it’s next days work. “What’s sleep ultimately for?”. No damage to brain prevents sleep indefinably, notes James Kreuger of the University of Tennessee. Therefore Kreuger argues, final explanation must involve a benefit to neural functioning. And he asserts that the benefit of proper rest is closely linked to the immune system. Scientific America July 1996,page 11. We
spend about a third of our lives in bed, yet little is thought is given to
why we sleep, what it does to our bodies and how to have the best sleep
that we possibly can, to prevent coming down with sickness. The work of
building up body takes place during the hours of rest (sleep). Tired
nerves need rest, and if we rob the body of adequate rest, in the end
we will pay for it. Work must be applied in moderation so as to preserve
health and extend life. Dr. Michael Irwin of San Diego Veterans Affairs
Medical centre found, losing even a halves nights sleep causes a 50%
reduction in killer T -cells, which scavenge the blood of infected cells.
Inadequate sleep could shorten our lives by 8 to 10 years. A simple test,
which determines whether or not you are getting enough sleep,
is indicated, if you need an alarm clock to get up in the
morning. Another evidence is if you have a strong physical
letdown in the middle of the day. Studies have shown that the body
produces a neurotransmitter called SEROTONIN; this neurotransmitter helps
induce sleep; the body naturally produces this sertonin between the hours
of 9.00 to 10.00 pm. So how
much sleep do we need, 6 to 8 hours per night for a healthy person, more
for the sick and over stressed.
Why is proper Rest important? It balances the body and it’s functions and restores health. What time is best time to go to sleep, to get the right amount of sertonin? Between 9.00 to 10.00.
The Ancient scriptures record great wisdom from above. “Trust in Lord with all thine heart, lean not under thine own understanding but acknowledge Him in all things and He shall direct thy paths.” Proverbs 3 v 5,6. TRUST
in GOD
The ancient scriptures record incredible and undeniable wisdom that is far above the greatest intellect in this world; hidden from the greatest multitude of human genius. But God in His wisdom has made plain enough for all to understand if we but ask for His help. The greatest prophet that ever walked the world, who was God in human flesh; Jesus Christ said’ “ Seek and ye shall find, knock and the door shall be opened unto you”. Simply the ancient scripture record that GOD Himself wants to us know Him and He will provide for all our needs. “ But my God shall provide all your needs according to His riches in Glory by Christ Jesus.” His promises to us can be counted on. But first in order to have trust in Him, supremely; we need to learn how to be obedient to His requirements known commonly as the Ten Commandments. But GOD further promises He will not bring disease upon us. “If thou will diligently hearken to the voice of the Lord thy God and do what is right in thy sight and give ear to His commandments, I will put none of these diseases upon thee which I have put upon the Egyptians: For I am the Lord that healeth thee.” The Holy Bible Exodus 15 v 26. The
world that we live in today is full of all manner of diseases, many of
which are contagious; some incurable; one is even afraid to use a public
rest room! However Christians cannot go through life in a panic.
Simply, what we have do is eat a proper diet ordained of God that was
founded in the garden of Eden and trust in God to protect us from
these plagues that are afflicting all manner of people; even Christians.
Many foods cloud our minds are unhealthful
to our bodies. The unbalanced diet, junk food, and wrong eating habits
prepare our bodies for diseases instead of building up the defense
mechanisms in our bodies. If men and women today were simple in their
habits, living in harmony with nature’s laws, as did Adam and Eve
in the beginning, there would be an abundant supply for the needs of
humanity. There would be fewer imaginary wants, and opportunity to work in
GODS WAY. Desire of Ages, p387. Godly trust is trusting in Gods Way.
Q: So how do we increase trust & faith, so we can be healthier, mind, body and spirit? by applying GOD’S PLAN to our lives.

IMPLEMENTING NEWSTART to LIVING 30 day Plus* Lifestyle Program: NUTRITION: NEWSTART to Living in all areas of our lives is vitally important and the subject of NUTRITION is one that very few today understand. God’s original diet for man is outlined in GENESIS chapter 1 verses 28 to 30. It outlines plainly the best plan for the health of our bodies. This natural diet consisted of what we call today mainly raw foods, unprocessed. In this area many will disagree, but if we are truly seeking a heal our bodies MIND , BODY and SPIRIT we will find this is the way. Through NEWSTART thousands around the world have found renewed health and vitality. When we are sick some found juicing their foods, fruits vegetables are wonderful in bringing rapid healing to our bodies. One of best books we have found on juicing for health; is doctor Norman Walkers book called, “Fresh Vegetable and Fruit juices; Norfolk press. There are many others too, ask at local book store or your health consultant who gave you this. EXERCISE DAILY: This is so important not only to keep fit MIND, BODY and SPIRIT but, for your whole circulatory system too. It’s important to do some simple stretching exercises before you take your brisk walk. This will prepare your body and your joints for the walk and reduce the risk of injury by doing this warm up. REMEMBER:
always start at your own pace; Please get the O.K. from doctor before
starting any fitness work, as some might need other exercise work before
attempting this. But in general all will gain a great blessing in doing
this. PROMISE: “And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a
conscience void of offence toward GOD, and toward man.” Acts 24 v 16.
LOTS OF WATER: Drinking
lots of cool clean water is very important for our bodies. Many don’t
half understand this important health principle. Our bodies are 80% plus
water, all of our organs need water to work effectively. Plus our cells at
every level need clean water to cleanse themselves; only clean pure water
can do this, not coffee, tea. or cola drinks . The body sees these things
as foods not as water, plus they are good in our systems for many other
reasons. So what’s the best water. Natural Alkaline water is best natures
way. Rain water is good, but it should properly filtered, as it contains
many contaminants from our roofs, gutters and maybe our tanks. A good tap
filter will fix this problem. But how much water should we drink 8 to 10
glasses a day is a start, but if we want to cleanse those cells properly,
2 litres plus a day works wonderfully. If you have never been a water
drinker it is hard, but if you have a will to try, you will succeed, it’s
vitally important for health’s sake. GREAT
TIP: Measure your water
every day, by carrying a water container with you everywhere you go, this
will show you how much water you have had.
SUNSHINE: One of the greatest blessing to mankind is sunshine, it helps greatly in calcium absorption, this is great benefit for those suffering from arthritic problems. This also is a wonderful gift for those who suffer from stress. It’s a great antibiotic for skin problems and helps in our bodies vitamin and mineral absorption. 5 to 10 minutes a day is all we need’ before 10 am and not earlier than 2 p.m later in day will avoid those harmful heat rays. PROMISE: “The Sun of righteousness arise, with healing in His wings.” Malachi 4 v 2. TEMPERATE/ALWAYS: This is a very important subject too. But what is TEMPERANCE; Living the right balanced Lifestyle that doesn’t over do it in any area. This simply means, we temperate in all things, getting to bed early, drinking lots of pure water, getting the right type of exercise, and eating the right diet, we are on our way to living a healthier happier life. This is what being temperate is all about. We also need to learn the lesson in over commitment, and learn say no, this would deferentially reduce the stress in many. NEWSTART to LIVING 3O day Plus* continued; Summery SheetAIR: Getting out into nature is and should be an essential part of your daily plan. Excising and deep breathing in the open air, drinking in full deep drafts is important. Proper breathing techniques are very effective while walking or exercising. The best method is, in through the nose and out through the mouth. People have found that doing at least 20 these simple exercises for the lungs before a brisk walk, have increased not only oxygen uptake, but given a better sense of well-being. PROMISE: “And the Lord GOD breathed into man the breath of Life and man became a living soul.” Genesis 2 v 7.REST: With so many over working themselves these days to get ahead, or just to survive, this subject is so important. Many rob themselves of the rest they need and thus in time could cause injury or premature illness. The saying is; “ Hard work can’t hurt anybody”, is true but over doing it does. Many try to go to bed late and get up early and for years they seen to cope but in the end this intemperance will catch up with them. “What we sow we shall reap”; this is a health law we cannot escape. So what can we solve this. Scientists have proven in sleep experiments that the best nights sleep is found between the hours of 10 p.m. and dawn, also they have found that a chemical called seretoin is naturally excreted from the brain to induce sleep between 9 and 10 p.m. This is found to help repair and aid our nervous system too. Getting a good nights sleep is important.INSOMNIA
SUFFFERS: Herbal teas such as chamomile or catnip have
brought relief in relaxing before going to bed. Deep breathing exercises slow and repetitious can bring relief. This can be used for
relaxation too and for
stress. We breath in through the nose a deep breath till lungs are full
hold it for 10 to 20 seconds then slowly breath out; do this 10 to 20
times. Ask the Lord, to give you peace rest in prayer time before sleep,
claim His promise from Matthew 11 verse 28 to 30. Sleep always with an
open window, as fresh air helps in our breathing at night. If we sleep with closed window
this is the reason why we can wake up with a headache in the morning from
lack of oxygen. PROMISE: “Come
unto me all ye labor and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.”
